Disasters, Delights and Other Detours - 31. Three Unpartnered Skyscrapers

None of these seemed to be part of a collection. So they came together separately, as it were.

One.

Leaves start slow;
first a few rogue sumacs,
then the hawthorn and broad catalpas;
ash, poplar and maples accelerate the change
from full green leaf to flaming hillside,
while proud oaks refuse to
surrender.

Two.

Sway me to
invisible music,
listen to sunsets paint pink cloudscapes;
let us taste erudition's vintage subtleties
which dance samba on the intellect
under the silver moon's
sweet caress.

Three.

No Alpha
could I aspire to be,
still less do I possess beta's strength,
nor Gamma's sympathy, or Omega's patience;
it is enough to be a cipher,
so easily erased
and forgot.

Comments and reflections are invariably appreciated. Thank you for reading!

I love all of these, especially the gradual changing of the leaves by species and the steadfast oaks, refusing to surrender.  And please know that you are not so easily erased, or forgotten.  :hug: :kiss:

The light is definitely changing as the acceleration begins. The driveway isn’t carpeted in leaves yet, but it soon will be. Thanks for reading these; I really do appreciate it.

As your work almost always does for me, I see paintings rendered in vibrant strokes of color and emotion. Well done, my friend :)

Thank you AC. These did not fit anyplace in my notes. Yet they seemed to need someone to read them to give them life. I’m very grateful.

Isn't autumn change a wonder? You gift it to us in words.

Come dance with me. Just us two to music only we hear.

Come know me and mayhaps I'll not so easily be forgot.

Namasté.

I liked all three, Parker. Wonderful... #2 felt like an invitation... to cavort. ;)

I'm happy you liked these orphan skyscrapers. Number 2 just felt unbound and free. Indeed, an invitation to join the delight. Thanks very much for reading each of these.

Dugh, thank you for reading these, and for your perceptive and thoughtful responses. I am very grateful. I hope you enjoyed these unpartnered poems as fully as I did.

Thank you, molly. Autumn is just underway here. I just liked the sound of the second one. And then the third...there are times when I wonder about fitting any proper place. Thank you for understanding.

A life-worth of wisdom there. Beautiful.

Thank you, Sas. I am grateful you read these small poetic pieces, and that you thought them wise.
