Spice Rack - 1. Selection

The first of the Spice Rack poems. All errors are mine.

The bar

swirls with dancers,

each hotter than the next;

I want to shout: hey, look my way,

choose me.

You called

me crazy to

fall into your embrace;

yet you were the greater fool to

choose me.

Harder,

deeper inside,

unhinge me, unsense me,

borne on pleasure's pulse because you

chose me.

I am very grateful to AC Benus and Asamvav111 for their thoughts and insights. And I will be grateful to you, too, for any comments you may want to leave.

Very nice, Parker. :)  And no one would be a fool to select you. ;)

This is certainly spicy, my friend. Love the line: "unhinge me, unsense me". In other words, be taken until you can't see or think straight anymore. The entire piece is invigorating.

You have it exactly right. And yes, it is um, zesty, isn't it?

This poem has real motion to it, like the swirling dancers I guess. They become the perfect metaphor for the sensations within the poet's head.

yet you were the greater fool to choose me. Err ... :no: Not that I'm taking sides or anything. ;)

Wonderful, sensual writing. So much description, imagery packed into so few words. It's what I like about cinquains. :)

Dancing, falling, passion - yes, lots of motion. And you are right that this was meant to make a hundred quick images flash through the mind. Thank you.

Cinquains, like Haiku, require economy. That's the fun part. The frustration is not being able to use a favorite word in the spot you want. I'm this one worked out.

Okay, first, that was smoking hot :yes:

And this...

You called

me crazy to

fall into your embrace;

yet you were the greater fool to

choose me.

For me, this is the essence of love, whether for a lifetime or other. When both partners feel they are the lucky one...

Wonderful, Parker... exquisite... cheers... Gary....

This center portion was not the sizzle, but the real main course, exactly as you say. Thanks for reading this!
