Spice Rack - 2. Flirtation

From another bottle on the Spice Rack. All errors are mine, of course.

One glance,

a smile, perchance,

a joke, a wink, a touch,

questions with unspoken meaning

linger;

night thoughts

do the work of sweet seduction,

truth and wish compounded

of flammable

craving.

With thanks to AC Benus and Asamvav111. You can leave a comment, rant or rave. That's fine.

You captured the spiciness of flirtation well.  I love the lines about 'night thoughts' and 'flammable craving'.  Very well done, as usual. ;)

powerful -  linger -- love the single word in the centre which seems to hold the two extremes at both ends together.

Thanks for this

I used to know these night thoughts very intimately. You bring back a certain feeling within me, and that proves your mastery.

Thank you so much for saying that. I, um, took a long time over that word choice. I really appreciate your taking the time to consider this poem.

I blush at your kind words. These feelings have echoed in my brain for a long time, too. I am glad this poem struck a chord with you, however distant.

Thanks so much for reading this. Yes, this poem is a bit tangy on the tongue, isn't it? And the words you noted do seem to drive everything else.

That igniting of a spark... the playfulness wrapped in uncertainty and hope... beautifully expressed. Another gem, warm to the touch, Parker... cheers... Gary....

Warm to the touch...yes, exactly. In flirting, every move, every gesture feels that way. I hoped to convey the excitement and flush when one realizes what game is being played. Thanks for reading and responding to this!
