I've enjoyed reading this, so firstly, thank you @vlista20 for writing it.

There's a few comments along the way from readers complaining that it's "unrealistic".  Well, yeah, you know what, I really hope it is, because the first half of the story is damned dark.  Like, it's properly tragically bleak.  Unfortunately - for those similarly persecuted -  it's also not 'never gonna happen' levels on unrealism.  There are many flawed and inadequate adults in the world, and this story plunges towards the darkest depths of that particular barrel.  At least one of them, Don, finally get's it together enough to do the right thing.

I think this is ultimately a story of hope, of love, and of growth.  Shane transforms as the pages go on, until there's a more or less fairytale ending, which is thoroughly deserved.  Maybe it's a fantasy, maybe it's cathartic, maybe it's just a story.  Whatever it is, it's definitely worth a read.

My only real problem is one of personal taste, as it suffers from the common form of TMGC (Too Many Gay Characters), but like I said, this is my own personal taste, not necessarily a critical reflection on the story overall.

I don't have anything new to add from the other excellent reviews. But I will say this author stands right up there with anybody's favorite established author.Judging by the reaction count and comment count word didn't get around when these stories first appeared almost 10 years ago.Maybe GA was a different web site then. This authors stories are as good as anyone's this review and rating is here so maybe more people can discover these stories
