Nature Silence disconnected, Wrath unleashed. Beneath your playful surface, I fear I sense a dead man, who wants to be alive once more; To feel the passion, the anger, the greed and the lust; All that connects one to life. Silence disconnected, Wrath unleashed. Create a world of meaningful challenges; One, who creates all, hadn’t been true to his soul when he created our world. We need a new world; a world of peace and silence. Silence disconnected, Wrath unleashed. Why create another world full of challenges? So, thus we return to the source, the bottomless cup of ambrosia, That supplies us all that we need most and may be some that we detest; Yet we cannot forgive them, who had once destroyed. In silence we shall await their destruction. Silence disconnected, Wrath unleashed. 2008 ©asamvav111

First, some background. When reading large blocks of text, the human eye needs separation. In the dead tree publishing world, this is accomplished by the indent. The indent was sized as the bare minimum space needed to help the eye. The ideal mental separation is a blank line. But a lot of blank lines in a story adds pages to the dead tree publishing format. And pages cost money. When the World Wide Web started, coding did not allow for indents. It is still pretty messy today if you are hand coding things. Add to this that reading on monitors and screens causes more eyestrain then reading on paper. This means that most people need more space in their space. Some of us unfortunate souls have some mild or worse form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Or tendencies. One of the things that drives me nuts is seeing indents on stories online. If you look at the largest story sites on the internet, (FanFiction.net/Fictionpress.com), there is no indents to be seen. Recognizing that there are people that do have the opposite issue, being obsessed with indents, Stories was designed to allow readers to make this decision. There has been one major catch to this. Authors must enter their stories into the editor "clean". The only formatting you should really be using is Bold and Italic and both of those should be very minimal. (though in Fantasy is is not usual to use Italics for mental communication to make it a visual cue to the reader what is in head and what is out loud.) To be clear... this is what clean looks like: When you paste from Word... The breaks between paragraphs might not show (or might in this case) in the editor... Pasting as plain text and touching up the handful of changes will definitely give you clean code. What the above looks like: If, as a reader I wish to read the indented version, I can now select the button to do so: In order for this to work properly, the inputted text from the author needs to be clear of indents. No matter how they got there, they are not in there correctly and it causes issues with the system. We'd automatically strip that out, but that causes its own issues. Even though that is the case, we will be doing it anyway in the future. We have to or we end up with broken text controls. Now, I'm sure there is an author or two getting huffy "I'm the author and I decide how my story looks." I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unless your name is J.K. Rowling, being the author means jack diddly to how a story looks. That's in the hands of the editor and the publisher out there in the real world. And in this case, Gay Authors is the publisher. We are not asking for much here. Just take the time and effort to put clean, clear text into the editor and save us all the issues of what happens when the system cleans something by mistake. Going forward in future versions of the software, we will be putting reporting tools in place that will all members to flag stories that have text control defects and might even start visually marking and demoting stories that have those issues until fixed. We really want to avoid that but the capability will be in place to do it. Now, our programmer has worked with us on a text filter that hides a lot of these issues and lets the text controls work as intended most of the time, even with some bad code. It is not perfect AND it causes the preview function to not work properly. (The Preview doesn't have that filter) This is why it might look in the editor preview, but not look okay when posted. With over 33,000 chapters, we don't have a one size fits all fix. So please, as an author, take the time to clean up your chapters. (perhaps a great time to do a light edit and grammar check?) When you post new chapters, post them in clean. NO INDENTS. EVER. All word processors I'm aware of default to no indent. If you don't like writing that way... then paste in and clear the format or select the paste as plain text. Then use the editor to add back in the small amount of italics or whatever. This will make things easier on all of us now and in the future as we work to clean things up.

What if the one you love, who doesn't know you existed, is in danger? How far will you go to protect him? There are some things in this universe best kept secret and away from the curious hands of humanity. Alfred's tale is just among the unfortunate ones that exist out there. The Servant This is a one-shot story, but I hope it pleases your palate. Enjoy...
